Battle for Berrima is holding a special weekend of events over Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st October to highlight the plight of our beloved Platypus and our Drinking Water Catchment from past and planned coal mining.
The weekend of special events will feature:
Early morning Platypus Watching Walk at Berrima - Starting 530am 21 October and suggested donation $10 per person
Pedal for the Platypus cycle to the Hume Coal Mine site, Medway Colliery and Wingecarribee River - Starting 1030am from Berrima Market Place - Suggested $5 donation per child, $10 per adult and $20 per family
Community BBQ in the heart of historic Berrima - From 1pm and suggested donation $5
Community Town Hall with local MPs and Candidates to examine coal mining within the Sydney Drinking Water Catchment - From 3pm and Free
Fund raising Dinner and Art Auction on Saturday night at E2 - $150 per person

Platypus Watching Walk at Berrima - Saturday 20th Dawn
This special event starts early and we will be taking you to try and spot the reclusive Platypus on the Wingecarribee River.
Meeting just before dawn we will take our group to the best spot to see these amazing animals that live in the heart of Berrima.

Pedal for the Platypus cycle to the Hume Coal Mine site, Medway Colliery and Wingecarribee River - Saturday 20th October at 10am
This gentle cycle ride will take you from the heart of Berrima out to see the site of the proposed 6 storey high, 800 metre coal stockpile that Hume Coal wants to put on the historic Merewether property which has been farmed for generations.
We will also visit Medway where the Boral Coal Mine is currently discharging heavy metal polluted discharge into the Wingecarribee River which is the home ot our precious Platypus.
A special treat will be a visit to a unique property wth spectatcular views of the Wingecarribee River.

Community BBQ in the heart of historic Berrima - Saturday 20th October from 1pm Market Place, Berrima
Join us after the ‘Pedal for the Platypus’ for a Community BBQ in the heart of historic Berrima which is under threat from the plans for a massive coal mine on the village outskirts.
Berrima is the last remaining intact Georgian Village on the Australian mainland.

Community Town Hall with local MPs and Candidates to examine coal mining within the Sydney Drinking Water Catchment - Saturday 20th October 3pm Berrima Village Hall
Join us for this moderated event asking our local elected representatives and candidates the questions the community wants answered about coal mining in the Sydney Drinking Water Catchment and its’ impacts on our precious water and our precious wildlife including the platypus.

Fund raising dinner and Art Auction - Saturday 20th October at E2 from 630pm
Join us at E2 on Saturday 20th October for a special fund raising dinner with live entertainment by Bob Rogers and a special Art Auction and many other prizes.
This is one of our major fundraisers for the year and helps support our work in protecting Berrima and the Southern Highlands from the threat of coal mining.
